The NoE representative went on to quash rumours that have recently emerged on the net regarding possible production delays, apparently due to difficulties with manufacturing the Wii's remote controller.
"The reports are entirely rumour and speculation. I can confirm that the Wii is very much on course for a Q4 release, as Nintendo originally stated," the spokesperson said.

Wii may delay its launch due to its controller is not up to standard.
On Nintendo’s Wii side, there are many rumours recently that said Wii may launch earlier than expected in late Oct, in order to suppress PS3 that launches in mid-Nov, but in fact Nintendo may not have a confirmed official launch day, due to all sorts of problems related to the controller that prevented mass production.
The factory has received Wii controller’s purchasing order and its sample, but is still stucked in testing phrase. From feedbacks of testers,...

Speaking at the Leipzig GCDC, Lionhead's Peter Molyneux has warned that motion-sensing controllers such as the Wii remote could leave gamers exhausted unless developers think creatively.
Molyneux's speech, titled 'Combat - Time to Evolve?', focused on the problems with traditional combat games, and suggestions for how to improve them - such as getting rid of hit points, allowing for one-hit kills, and letting characters use items in the environment around them.
When asked by an audience member how he thought these ideas might work with...

If you happened to have your entirely cynical hat on, you could probably get away with describing Nintendo's forthcoming Wii version of Zelda: Twilight Princess as nothing more than a GameCube port with fancy new controls shoved on top.
In fact, speaking to Nintendo Dream magazine, Shigeru Miyamoto described the game's transition from 'Cube to Wii as "an interesting experiment". It seems that following the success of Twilight Princess's bi-polar development, the Nintendo luminary is keen to remake existing GameCube titles, adding full...

The idiosyncratic basics of Nintendo's Wii handset have been well-documented at this point. Designed separately by studios in Australia, the U.K. and the U.S., the THQ games exhibited many of the maneuvers seen in other companies' previewed Wii software. Punching and kicking in "Avatar," a four-character bird's-eye-view brawler, is triggered by combinations of pressing buttons and waving the Wii remote, which in this case needs to be pointed at the screen like a TV remote. In a rampage mode of "SpongeBob," a jostle of the Wii remote results in...

Nintendo is pushing a unique combination of features and games that will propel them into the next generation ahead of the competition. Nintendo has always done some very unique and ambitious things with their consoles; the Wii is just more proof of that....

Answering the prayers of Star Wars fans everywhere, one of Lucas’s henchmen just hinted at a lightsaber clash-em-up on Nintendo’s dream machine!
Flapping his lips at Comic-Con in San Diego, LucasArts' Steve Sansweet says there are plans to bring games to all three next-gen consoles, including the Wii.
IGN also reports the loose-lipped spokesman noting the Wiimote’s resemblance of a lightsaber, plunging Star Wars fans into a frenzy of speculation that, yes, we’ll be clashing controllers before too long.

This wireless input device will be powered by a pair of regular AA alkalines, giving the unit 30 hours of battery life with the precision aim function activated, or up to 60 hours if only the accelerometer is being used. It's also being reported that remaining battery life will be indicated at startup by those four LEDs on the front of the controller, which will serve double duty to show which player is communicating with the console at a given moment.
