Sony's Phil Harrison has admitted that the company "overreached" with its decision to include a Blu-ray drive in PlayStation 3.
Referring to the shortages of blue diodes that forced Sony to postpone the console's European launch until March, Harrison told Eurogamer's Rob Fahey, "we have overreached in production of the Blu-Ray component - I can't deny that".
"But that's the price you pay for adopting brand new, leading-edge technologies that will be future proof."

Microsoft employee Andre Vrignaud, who works for the Game Tech Group, claims that Sony's PlayStation network is "busted" and offers a "broken" user experience. He believes that a number of companies are trying to position themselves to become the sole provider of an online solution for the PS3.

Gizmodo takes a spin of the PS3's web browser. Some of the cool features are that you can have six browser sessions active at any given time, you can punch in addresses and text using the controller, a usb keyboard or a bluetooth keyboard. Slickest of all is the ability to use the left analog stick as your mouse.

Having already disappointed European gamers by delaying the launch of PlayStation3 in the territory until March 2007, it seems that Sony will be squeezing the number of launch units for Japan too, if reports from the Nikkei Keizai Shimbun newspaper prove to be accurate.
