Mageknight: Apocalypse Game Review
What a horrible, horrible game.
This is just my first impression of the game, but it seems like this game was made by people who have never played modern games.
Graphics are terrible. I boosted up the resolution to 1600x1200 (with all the anti-aliasing and other feature all turned on) and it still looks bad.
Gameplay - Uncomfortably TOO FAST. The mouse click thing is bad too, half the time it thinks you're trying to go somewhere, when in fact you want to attack the enemies. This is because attacking is left-click and magic (or skills) is right-click: the problem lies in the fact that movement is left-click as well as attack.
Of course, this was also a minor problem in Diablo and Diablo II and other clones.
Resolution, game is not smart enough to disable what it can't display. For instance, my widescreen at home cannot handle 1280x and above, when I switched the game to something higher, all I got was a blank screen. IT DOES NOT OFFER SAFE MODE to revert it to a lower resolution.
Inventory: Wow, it's as if NO ONE PLAYED THIS GAME before it shipped. You had to manually move same-items into its own inventory slot for them to stack up. It does not do it automatically. Very annoying. I think there was a recent patch that fixed this problem.
Automatic Patch System, this is actually cool. It works. Unfortunately it is also very, very, very slow. It took 10 minutes for my game to patch up - and all I wanted to do was play a game.
Anyway, I'm very disappointed in this game. Do yourself a favor and wait for something else. I give it a 2 out of 10 stars. Anyone wants to buy it from me ?
