
Sony is in talks to sell its production facilities for advanced microchips used in its PlayStation 3 game console to Toshiba, sources close to the matter said.
The sale, which would include production lines for the "Cell" microchips, dubbed "supercomputer on a chip," is part of Sony's strategy to shed costly semiconductor assets and focus on the production of strategic products such as image sensor chips used in digital cameras and camcorders, they said.

The World Series of Video Games has come to a screeching halt as event organizers were unable to secure enough sponshorship revenue.
The worldwide video game competition, created by US-based Games Media Properties, included melees of Counter-Strike, Gears of War, Guitar Hero II, Quake 4, and World of Warcraft.
GMP already presented World Series of Video Games competitions in Louisville and Dallas. In these competitions, total cash awards totaled from around $7,000 for Guitar Hero II to around $30,000 for World of Warcraft. Apparently...

The playable multiplayer demo of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is now available for download on the game's official site. It actually supports both single and multiplayer modes, so you can kill bots and friends alike.

Rockstar Games’ much maligned horror title Manhunt 2 appears to be on track for a release this Halloween.
Manhunt 2 was originally slated for release on the Wii, PlayStation 2 and PSP on July 10 but was temporarily suspended from release following ESRB rating the game AO for adults only.
Publisher Take 2 Interactive and developer Rockstar Games last week announced that it had submitted a modified version of Manhunt 2 to the ESRB, who has now rated the title "M" for Mature for ages 17 and older.

Crytek is currently working on a console game, and it appears that the game is being built from the ground up for PS3. "It's a complete departure from Crysis and Far Cry, it's not a first-person shooter," he explained.
