Citing "multiple sources in the game industry" veteran games journalist John Davison has filed a report on a new Wii, set to launch in 2011.
Posted at WhatTheyPlay, the story says that Nintendo is currently "showing early presentations of its next home console hardware". It's going under the name Wii HD, suggesting a significant graphical overhaul.
Davison admits details are sketchy but says his sources are pointing towards "a greater emphasis on digitally distributed and backwardly compatible content". Nintendo will once again focus on...

Microsoft said on Wednesday it plans to cut the U.S. prices of its Xbox 360 video game machine, lowering the price of its entry-level console to $50 below Nintendo's top-selling Wii.
The move makes the Xbox 360 the first game machine of this generation of consoles to sell for less than $200, a key mass-market price that Microsoft said historically has accounted for more than 75 percent of all machine sales.
The lower prices ahead of the crucial holiday shopping season--a period of time when the video game industry racks up most of its...

Tuesday's release of Grand Theft Auto IV is expected to be so big, there's a real concern in Hollywood that the video game could dampen the box office for the May 2nd release of Iron Man.
With projected sales of $400 million in its first week alone, Rockstar Games' long-awaited sequel could set a precedent - one where Hollywood begins browsing video game release dates to check for conflicts.
"This will be the first major release in what is considered Hollywood's summer movie period, and if there's any title that could put a dent in box...

A webshots user has uploaded six images of what look to be the map insert for the PlayStation 3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV. Images include the city itself, complete with descriptions of various locales, the Liberty City subway map, and the controller map for the PS3. It's about as New York as you can get without actually being in New York. Everything looks rather official, though I'm going to go ahead and rumor tag this pending some sort of official confirmation. It's not that we don't trust the internet, it's just...okay, we don't trust...

In other words, in the next 11 days. The update will also allow you to copy photos and music playlists over USB from your PS3 to your PSP.

Players don a motion-tracking headset to project the visuals and then they are ready to begin virtual exploration.
They can run, jump, roll, or crawl over virtually unlimited distances without encountering real world obstacles.
The large hollow sphere sits on rollers allowing it to rotate through 360 degrees and move freely in any direction - without actually going anywhere at all.

Nintendo announced that Mario Kart Wii will use a "Mario Kart Channel" that, like the Wii Fit Channel, stays accessible from the Wii Menu even when the disc is not in the drive. You can use this Channel to view and download ghost data of other players and race against them (presumably you'll need the disc for the racing parts). Nintendo has released additional information about this Channel which reveals just how useful and smart their detached Channels can be.
The Channel lets you register friends and check their online status (awesome),...
